New Demand Management Incentives for Energy Efficiency in New York
Exciting news for commercial energy customers in New York! ConEdison and New York State have launched new incentives to promote energy efficiency and reduce electric demand.

What is the Demand Management Program?
The Demand Management Program provides enhanced financial incentives for adopting energy-efficient technologies that improve building operations and reduce electricity demand. This includes a significant increase in incentives for battery storage systems—now 350% higher than before!
New Battery Storage Incentives
-
Incentives for 100 kW battery storage module:
-
Prior incentive: $600 per kilowatt
-
New incentive: $2,100 per kilowatt
-
For example, 100 kW battery storage now qualifies for $210,000 in incentives, compared to $60,000 previously.

Why are Demand Management Incentives Increasing?
New York State is responding to potential energy reliability issues by offering these incentives to encourage a permanent 125 MW reduction in peak demand by 2016. Eligible projects include thermal storage, battery storage, demand response systems, building management systems, HVAC, lighting upgrades, and fuel switching.
Eligibility Requirements:
-
Installed and operational by June 1, 2016
-
Located in ConEdison service areas (New York City or Westchester County)
-
Projects must achieve at least a 50 kW demand reduction

Take Advantage of Unprecedented Incentives
An integrated energy management system can help:
-
Cut utility bills significantly
-
Improve power quality
-
Enable demand response incentives
-
Support renewable energy integration
-
Provide emergency backup power
